Like a pilgrim making the Hajj, this weekend I dropped by Chelsea Market to graze my way from 9th Ave to 10th.  For years there was this wine store across from Eleni’s Bakery, but now that space appears to be a gallery of sorts.  In honor of Earth Day, they’re showcasing sculptures of animals made from recycled materials.  Above we have a manatee, and below, a red panda.

I’ve seen red pandas at the Brooklyn zoo, and the likeness is uncanny.  This gives me hope that once humans’ destructive ways effectively wipe wildlife off the face of the planet, we’ll be able to make passable replicas out of our refuse.  Remember to recycle!

These are my new friends Georgia and Jonah. I met them through my old friend Katherine.

After spending most of the night with them drinking at El Prado, we walked across the street to a hot dog vendor.

They were very happy about this. It just reconfirmed my pescetarianism.

I guess I could eat the onions…

Things we ate at Blue Hill at Stone Barns:

Troutlings, carrots, cauliflower, spinach, butter, ricotta, beets, goat cheese, Berkshire pork (lots), apples, celery, mackerel, sunflower sprouts, capers, red fife, ramps, eggs, broccolini, chickpeas, lamb, parsnip, red chard, leeks, pineapple, fromage blanc.

Ma’am, you were delicious.

This is my friend Katherine and her dog Matilda. I can’t tell you who I’m more obsessed with. On the one hand, Matilda is Matilda. On the other, Katherine doesn’t shed, so…still a tough call. We hung out this weekend after our friend Jaime’s BBQ, for which I made pineapple upside-down cupcakes with raspberries on top that looked like boobs. Tried to take photos of them, but they were gobbled up before I had the chance!
